All this suitable rides banter...

Well, from a self confessed desk jockey who rides to and from work and does 'the occasional TT' (please get tired of the 24 jibes quickly) of late - I would just like to say thank you for suggesting the route of the shelf followed by the horse shoe pass today and then back via the higher road in Tremerchion. While it didnt seem so smart at the time, achievment gained, and a day off to nurse my aching limbs! That was neither a short, or a slow, or a flat ride.... in fact it covered all the things I would normally like to avoid: Well done!

Above: Here we are blending in nicely in the Ponderosa, Horse Shoe Pass. Barely noticeable at all in a busy cafe that is full of bikers (the other kind), and the grey haired and scared (present company excused!) - we were stealth itself.

{edit} SMM - this is not a whine - this is a 'hell I managed that' kinda post, doing the stuff I dont like and not being maxed out by it.

Yes its a good ride, with a bit of everything. However you are lucky that Alan didnt have time on Saturday night to plot us a route coming up the Horseshoe from the other (Llangollen side) thats a whole different kettle of fish. We'll save that one for you on a nicer day, ouch !

I believe I have done that from the comfort of feeling puffed in a car. One of my first visits to Wales, and wondering what kind of maniac would ride up that... standing at the top looking out and pondering to myself what a damn long way up... only to have, what, if I am not very much mistaken, some loon in a GB strip ride by looking 'slightly puffed'.

Hope you enjoyed it, the last time I went up Horshoe pass, well not exactly up, more over, at 36 thousand feet, in the comfort of boeing 747. It still looks a hell of a ride, no Pain!!! :)

I should have thought that a mountain goat such as yourself would laugh at such a challenge? To be fair though from going up the other side in a car, this side is much easier to get up... just lets keep that to ourselves.
