GF not so Sporty
While I'm sure the 37 mile sporty isn't as tough as the Mega GF, it was tough enough.
after the split at Pentrefoelas, it was straight into some pretty tough climbs, I know the Super GF possy will say how so at only the 37 miles, but reports back at the leisure were that apart from the distance the climbs were just as tough, without the Bwlch, and Hirnant pass.
I came back in a fairly respectable time of 2h 46 mins 54 sec.
it's 17.11 now and can only imagine how knackered the Super GF mob are feeling and probably got a fair bit still to do.
No major incidents apart from Jan having 2 punctures in the first 10 miles, as Dave wasn't there. There was no one to stumble before the start, all though I hear Al's bike tried to make a dash for it on the way off his roof.
I have spoken to Andy this morning - 9 hours in the saddle - seriously - dude - thats excess - well done!
Ahhh - any ride with Pentrefoelas, Ysbuty Ifan and friends in or around the scenery is not going to be a ride around the block is it - no - so congratulations!
The wind up here was a very big feature of the day - and I can only begin to imagine how harsh it must have been on any exposed peaks or around the coast.
Jason and I headed down to saints to pick up anyone who showed, but found ourselves heading out to the Orme for a ride into wind with a planned tow back when we met up with Mal and the Rhyl, and headed over to Two Mills with them. The ride out was nothing short of jet propelled, but the return was, in simple, small words, harsh and unforgiving.
What news from our other contenders on Sunday?
as in the honda garage, on the way ish to liverpool??
Yes.
There is a really nice cyclists cafe there. We did a loop around the countryside marsh side there, stopped for a cuppa, and made our way back - where Jason and I split from the Rhyl boys and made our own way (folly possibly in that headwind).
I got a text from Jason last night - something along the lines of 'Chain gang walk in the park in comparison'. Just one of those times when you get to draft and it just means its hard going as opposed to painful.
