For Sure Dan gets the
"Nerdy Mechanic Star Award"!!!
Dont make me start putting graphs up here! Dont start something you cannot finish Syd ;)
I cant see how I earned that title.
AAAAH I know because having spent the best part of £50 on a bike computer that I am "sad and misguided" enough to take 15 mins to set it as per the instructions. Therefore it actually tells me something of relevance and reasonable accuracy, making it not an utter waste of money. It hardly makes me Adrian Newey now does it ! (Syd, if you are not sure who Adrian Newey is, enter the name into one of your bike gadgets and I am sure it will return a full explanation and biography)
And while I am at it !
All this "its not the equipment its the rider, and all basic maintenance is for egotistical wannabe racers and poofs" pontification is from an unnamed member with the newest Carbon bike in the club ! :) I ask you.
Mind you I suppose the new bike was a bit overdue in this instance, as the previous one saw more unfortunate and unsolicited action than a boy band member on his first night in Strangeways !
I shall dismount from my high horse / soapbox now. Dont you lot realise I have headset bearings to re-grind ;)
And yes without a shadow of doubt Syd you are the new gadget guy king ! I have never heard so many beeps and whistles from a bike ! Its like going out riding with Stephen Hawking
Its no wonder you will only ride 40 miles maximum I suppose thats the longest length that they make the extension cable that goes from your bike to your PC.
I do have to side with the less technologised members on this point, as I have realised from my brief experimentation with computerised performance analysis with Graphs and charts etc, that they tell you two very important things : -
1. Uphills are harder than downhills and make your heart beat faster.
2. Riding fast is harder than riding slow and also makes your heart beat faster.
After making these pioneering and previously unimaginable discoveries, made possible only recently by ground-breaking technology. I have decided to throw my computer in the bin and ride my bike a bit more ! ;)
Cos I only have enough bread crumbs to leave in case i get lost!!
Come on I did the 60 + Brening route,
we hey :)
Saw it with my own eyes. So have to tip my cap to you. We'll make a sportive rider out of you yet !
Go Easy Mr Mech'
You'll get rep of post nerd too, I want that title!!! :)
