Addition

Two things to report - some pictures from a particularly windy and moist day on the 27th can be found in the gallery.

Secondly - I have some better scales for Christmas (yeah, she loves me that much!) - and would like to admit to just short of a 2Kg gain over the festivities.

"greaT"

Which is handy. Along with riding in today, into wind, with a bag full of everything I need for 'first day back'... wheeze, puff, wheeze, puff ... was it really so long since I was last on a bike.

So - besides all the obvious verbal and written abuse for weight gain (no Bombay mix for me, not cake, just the endless stream of meals and drinks)... how is everyone else? Self name and shame on the weight front?

Happy New Year one and all.

1 kilo (2.2 lbs) for me. However I did speak to someone (not a cyclist) at the gym last night who claimed a 14 lb increase !!

Guys, I put on 6lbs but have lost 4 of them already. Had a good ride today and apologies for chickening out at Hendrewydd and turning back for home. Just turned left and didn't quite grasp what was going on. Hope you guys didn't get too wet, the rain eased off once we had turned back!
I won't type anymore in case I am doing all this wrong!

June, might be showing yourself too early Syd, you dont want too much form too early ! By the way Mr Gasket, Its the I-team challenge for you this year my boy !! And not the 30 miler set aside for ladies and 30 stone larders. We want the minimum of the 100 mile effort from you. You know you want to ! As you know we won the team prize for most finishers last year (not bad for a national event) So we arent giving our award back that easy.

So - i-team - wasnt that the harder of last years monster rides?

That is if you are not doing the twice around the car park affair? Are we allowed to just do the normal event as opposed to the one where you get to experience a new and somewhat more finite definition of 'discomfort on a bike'?

So anyway - when, where, team entry?

There are levels of wet I guess, but it was okay; rained hard, then eased off, then on and off for the remainder of the ride. It wasnt cold, so it was more about prolonging the time in wet clothing really. Finding somewhere with air con to dry off a bit would have been a wiser tea stop - Tesco was mentioned I think (after peeling Jason away from his full English moment).

First post too - good man :)

Waiting for a post from our illustrious leader, weekend after next - Manchester Velodrome... I am guessing we want some more "me me me" and the like - who's in?

is this the one Alan was talking about being in May. I have an excuse... Honest... I'm getting married on May 25th so may not be allowed out that weekend - if I'm at all lucky. But I do fancy a crack at it or similar. Where do I find which events are on and where and do I need to be a member of a British Cycling club? Is VC Melyd not British enough??

I-team challenge 27th May

Website for the Polkadot challenge 17th June and the Spud Riley 26th Aug

Wild Wales Challenge

Paul, re: the i-team challenge and your wedding. Have you wondered about asking whether the Mrs would prefer to do the i-team challenge on a tandem with you, rather than the 2 week honeymoon in Barbados ? ;)

This brings back memories of the man-wife tandem pairing doing the i-team last year, and the exasperated bloke having to stop every 10 miles so his Mrs could have another pee behind a bush. (Funny)

You dont need to be a member of any organisation or club to do these Sportive challenges. You just need a mechanically sound bike, and a mechanically unsound brain. (mind you Dave seems to do ok with only one out of the two of those requirements, I'll leave everyone else to decide which one) :)

Thanks for that Dan and I'll bear in mind the the tails and tandem bit - not. But this cay dancing, now that sounds intresting - is that something you get up to on a Saturday night Syd? I've had the go ahead for the i-team event, the Mrs to be said yes! Bet she changes her mind once we're hitched. Is it really 119 miles? The most I've ever done is 85. Better get out more in the meantime...
Which reminds me...
Where were all you lot last Tuesday?
The rain and wind abated at 6.30 and I had a peaceful sojourn of a ride up to Caerwys, Holywell, Whitford and Llanasa. Only interuption was Alan phoning me, telling me he didn't want a pint in saints after all. Am I missing a point here?? :)

See Paul you got it all wrong!!!
You thought VC was a serious cycling club. Now I'm sure your getting to realise, really were a bunch of, occasionally weather permitting, boozers who now and again venture out on the bike. At least the Web site gives us a channel to blah de blah about our goals / dreams!!!

(Speaking personally anyway)

Cay Dance..... PMSL :)
