Specific Event training

Posted in

With the marmot looking like the favourite event for the touring section of the club next year.
I thought it would be a good idea to think about specific targeted training plan for this event .I here you cry what on earth made you think of that? well recent results show that a life time of preparation does work.
A long long time ago whilst watching his doppelganger on Braniac science abuse a diminutive member of our merry band saw a demonstration on aero dynamics.
From this he concluded that LURKING is by far the most efficient form of cycling, except in the wet (which is why you never see him in the rain) as time goes by, he becomes more and more proficient, so much so that on some rides you don’t even notice he is there until you get to the bar after the ride. The problem with this form of training is finding the event in which to excel. Well last week he found it, winning his first ever two up time trial.
An excellent 21:30 for the D9 circuit and barely out of breath at the end when congratulated by Sion at the end he said that was great much easier than when I go round on my own. As I said now that we have proof that dedication to a scientific training plan works. We should draw up a plan to follow ideas welcome.

Totally unprovoked attack !!

I always knew I had a sub 22 in me.

It could have been a sub 21, if I didnt have some great lumox in the way the whole lap slowing me down like a human contraflow ;)

Anyway it'll never stand up in court. its my word against yours, who's to say I wasnt on the front the whole course, in fact the only witnesses to our lap were the starter, and I believe he would have seen me lead away from the start and the Andy / Phil pairing, and I also believe that they saw me on the front.

Cunning timing dont you think....
(However I believe the weight of evidence in past Time Trial performance may count against me)

All attacks are unprovoked...

... on this site and I wholeheartedly endorse THE POWER'S sentiments.

However, it appears the rules have been broken on this occasion as Dan has not been out of the country or away from work...

He has?

Oh yes, cleaning his bike at lunchtime.

Rules have therefore not been broken so let the abuse continue unabated.

One question.

Is getting a tow even worse than a push????

I forgot to mention

Alan's picture

Did i mention any names?
oh and I forgot to mention the titanium hooked bungee cord by lightspeed.

If Dan.....

Hadn't been so quick to comment/defend himself I would never have guessed who Al was talking about...hang on, shortarse slacker who doesnt like wind(on the front!) or rain...no 2nd thoughts probably would have got Dan!

Though Paul should realise a tow is not in the same league as getting off and walking! (the shame!) I consulted the Pinarello owners club about the Liddle "Push Handle"tm Patent Pending...The guy said

"usually when ones exertions prove insufficently potent to propel ones velocipede over a Hors cat climb, one would call ones butler on ones portable telephonic device, recline gently on the verge sipping Pimms whilst awaiting assistance" pushing apparently is not only "un-elegant" but "common" as well...consider yourself blackballed mate!
looks like a no-go for Principias as well Dan..Al would carve his own, Steve would go by helicopter!

LOL

Actually as it happens, Steve is way too smart to be seen near the hill in the first place ;). you dont get a Hotel an Aston Martin and a big boat by being daft ;)

I know it's dangerous

to be serious for a mo' and even more suprising is me trying to be a little serious....

I followed a 17ish week plan before the GFC, I have a XL sheet of it it that helps any.

(I'm expecting grief but hey no more than usual) from you guys.

Paul may of used it too?!?!?

I think I want to do the Marm' but really not convinced on the ability of doing more training than I needed for the GFC.

!!Wot No Bar!!
