I think Chris and Dave had the one up from that one with Dura Ace/Ultegra and lighter wheels on. Neverless its a bargain at 800 quid. But is it way better than what you have already got ? Not really ? Its a Carbon frame which will probably ride a little bit less harshly and transmit a little less buzz, but it wont be much. the stuff on it isnt that light either.
I personally would say that if you stuck better wheels on your Cannondale and lost the 15kgs of technology and gubbins attached to various parts of your bike then your Cannondale would be a stiffer, livelier and faster bike (maybe even lighter). Got to remember that the Cannondale CAAD4 and CAAD5 frames have won stages of the Tour de France in the recent past. Seriously, the CAAD4 frame in small is 1300 grammes which is bloody competetive.
I kid you not Cannondale pass down the technology through the range of their road bikes. They dont build a cheap frame to a price point, they use the previous years pro-level frame and just put cheaper upgradeable bits on them to get the price down. You have a very, very upgradeable bike there. A light set of wheels and an Ultegra or Dura Ace groupset on and your bike would be as light, responsive and fast as 90% of bikes costing 2k +.

Dont be led into thinking Carbon is better, for one there is Carbon and there is Carbon. Why do you think the same manufacturer can make two frames out of exactly the same mould, one which costs £1000 the other £2000.
With good Carbon its certainly slightly more comfortable, but you are 35 not 65 and a good Aluminium frame is a thoroughbred to ride.

The biggest most massively performance improving upgrade you will make to any half decent frame is wheels, wheels, wheels, in terms of performance frame and light wheels are 95% of everything. I still love riding my CAAD4 with light wheels on.

Yep If you are going down the upgrading is cheaper than replacing the whole bike then I would suggest these wheels to give your Cannondale a bit more urgency

Lightweight Obermeyers

And dont panic the price is in Dollars not Pounds so if you convert at todays rate they are a bargain. Best get Sian to get them ordered for you now though as apparently there is a 6 months waiting list
