First day back to work here, somehow made easier by the fact it's not a Monday... how does that work?

Best wishes to the cast of 2007, and more of the same and better for 2008.

Now... about the weather... it's starting to look grim for the ride home after such a dark day!

The "Great 08" has started well...

For those that don't know, we scored our first "Win" of the year yesterday:

The Power won the Brass Monkey TT - Well Done!

Happy New Year,

I'm out Sunday Syd, same time same place, unless you fancy a longer ride and we can start a little earlier... or if we can entice Anthony out with just a nice easy one to Ruthin and back it would be nice to see the bearded one.

Remember mine and Pete's first VC Melyd ride Ant? You can't do worse than that!

I think Jase, Justin, Chris

Dan's picture

I think Jase, Justin, Chris and me are off to CYB again on Sunday. Anyone else is more than welcome

Anyone up for Chainganging?

Only Joking!
Happy new year to you all.

P.S
Chaingang can`t be far away.
We need to to be up to race pace for April (:

The provisional plan is to

Dan's picture

The provisional plan is to restart the Winter (bootend) chaingangs at the end of January. Matt Limacher has already declared himself in ! As have Alan and myself, hopefully Chris Prior will be coming along to drag us round as well. The last time we did the bootend cicuit (a few weeks back), it was Justin, myself and Alan going pretty hard at it. Justin was really handing out some pain on the flat, so hopefully he fancies it too !

(the more the merrier, in my opinion, those turns at the front come round waay too quick when there is only 3 of you !)

PS. my New years resolution is not to go off on one on a forum posting and stop at 100 words max, whether I have finished or ..........................

.........

Dan's picture

.......not

Sounds like fun!

I will be there.
Its got to be done.
not sure about my lights though,That is the first excuse for not going off the front. in 08 :)

Wheel Sucking

Paul Rutt's picture

I'll be there, if I may join such esteemed company?

If only to hang on to the back for as long as I can... St. Mary's?

You could even run a book on where I get droppped!

Any advice Dan? Just to tempt a 100 worder..

Gary, I've got a spare torch you can borrow - not excused.

Masochists ?

Why do grown men sign up so willingly for something they know will give them an enormous amount of pain?

And some will even pay for it :) Ouch.

Chaingang - heh. No.

Chances of having winter bike ready for Sunday. No.

Looking forward to freezing ride home. *NO*.

Sunday - its a possibility.

PS - You back in August 2005 Paul, think that far, but slower.

Get your head down Webmiester.

Get you head down Anthony its only a 17 mph freezing head wind.
Thats the reason I`m sat here and not doing some much needed miles. Down the Gym instead.

Don`t feel bad about not turning up for the Clubruns, every time I do they think they have a new member, Lesser spotted variety!

WM who?

sydear's picture

WM if Gary can dish the who are you line, then you must be missed...

Come on WM you know you want too :)

!!Wot No Bar!!

Nice one Syd.

I`m even tempted to Place a formal offer for his TimeTrial Bike :)

Hmmm. Chain gang advice in

Dan's picture

Hmmm. Chain gang advice in less than a hundred words. Not easy

As Gary said, prepare for a lot of pain, Never believe that the next section is gonna be easier, you will feel the same the whole way round...Like Dante's inferno you will go between 5 levels of hell these are, 1. not nice - 2. horrible- 3. really horrible - 4. agony - 5. hmm, cant remember eating those carrots. But you will never feel better than the "not nice" zone. Unless your name is Chris Prior.

Dont be a hero, never be too proud to miss a turn, stay close to the wheel in front, it is your lifeline !!!

"The power" will not have his "clubrun" head on, where he will look after clubmembers and be generally cuddly. He will have his "competetive" head on and will be trying to kill everyone ;) You will be unlikely to hear the words "ease off lads(insert name)is off a bit"

If you hang on till the bottom of Bootend hill, you get a bonus life on the hill, the hill is a big divider, and the quicker lads up the bootend wait for anyone (who hung on till the bottom of the hill. After that, it gets selfish again ;)

On the plus side, your speed improves fast. It doesnt last as long as a normal ride, and you will feel like you really earned that Erdinger. Chaingangs are like sticking a pin in your face, i.e the only nice bit is when it stops.

I cant be bothered counting but that looks over 100 words !! Thats another new Years resolution broken

I think we all sign up for

Dan's picture

I think we all sign up for it, because we are not currently (at the time of typing) experiencing the pain, and the memory dulls the reality of it all. I can say without any hesitation and shame that by the Nant hall hotel, Prestatyn, on the first chaingang, I will be thinking "why o why o why, do I want to do this ??, its horrible and I may die tonight :)"

The realisation that this is only 4 weeks away is beginning to dawn on me like a big fat scary painful monster ! I think I need to up the Turbo sessions, big time !

the virtual one??

sydear's picture

you still haven't fully come out yet Dan.......
About the mega ££££ turbo all singing all dancing kit you got!
what is it are you after the Tech / Gadget-geek award

!!Wot No Bar!!

On my Own-some

Where were you on Friday?
Came for a sneaky Friday afternoon ride, and to wish you all a happy new year, but I waited in vain!
Perhaps you saw the weather forecast...
I went to Abergele by way of the Marble Church, and then battled against a stinging rain sodden head wind to Llanfair T-H and LLansannan.
With the intention of doing the climb to Llyn Aled just to put you to shame. But it remained just that - an intention. Maybe next time.
Back in Sh*tsville now, so catch you in a few weeks time.
HAPPY NEW YEAR,
Martin Bob the Builder

I have to admit the fortius,

Dan's picture

I have to admit the fortius, is bordering on the over geeky. But it certainly makes turbo training a whole lot more interesting, having someone to ride against.

Plus you can draft another rider, when you get knacked, so it suits me down to the ground.
