OK OK, I know I am a sod for posting scare articles. But I have found this write up of the Marmotte by one of the Rhos guys and it was a really interesting (if not scary) piece

Saw this and thought of you Marmotte-eers!

22 should come in handy!
who's up for MTB trip Sunday?
marmo' hell!
wow, that article really does make you think!
the GFC souns like a bump compared!
I reckon the training should start about now!!!
I'm still on the fence at teh mo'
where's the MTB going this Sunday then Justin??
!!Wot No Bar!!
Oh yes, I really dont think
Oh yes, I really dont think this event should be taken lightly at all. Training should be starting in earnest now ! Everyone needs to be at least 1 stone lighter ;) and much fitter by then.
Sunday wise it all depends on the weather. Dry and I am on the road. Wet in any way shape or form and I will be on the trails. Will let you know Saturday.
1stone!!
Chuffin' 'ell Dan, you will dissapear behind a 6mm spanner if you drop any more weight!
If anything you need to monch on some of them Faenol Mince Pies!!!
That said there are a few VC'rs who could do with dropping a few pounds!
No Names :)
!!Wot No Bar!!
I suppose that was a bit in
I suppose that was a bit in jest. But any spare ounces that arent helping you up the hill are your worst enemy ;)
So we are on an Erdinger free Spring this year...not....
My stomach is churning
My stomach is churning after reading that! Oh Dear...
At least a stone for me and probably more.
More miles required and more hills and NO NO NO Erdinger!
Bring it on - we need to be 8 out of 8 finishing this thing.
Pound dropping!
Cheeky monkey! I have a couple of concerns about losing too many pounds:-
Firstly I wouldn't be so much fun for skinny guys to hide behind when there's a bad headwind..say up to LLandegla....no names mentioned!
Plus I am worried about losing upper body strength...handy for pushing said skinny guy back home!
Finally it might impact on my ability to sprint past said skinny guy at will!
Me and Ant have always thought its unfair that when we go off the back up hills we just have to catch up!...when we are going too fast on the flats or rolling terrain..we always have to slow down...where's the fun in that?
Hope you get back to GFC fitness soon
Interesting comments Justin
But it needs explaining....
How come you are so fast on the flat and yet a little slower on the hills?
But simply, there you have your reason. The fast guys get up the hill in the knowledge that you will catch them sooner or later. They also know that you will drop them on the flat, so we have a downward spiral of negativity which just will not do.
We must unite!
All go at the slowest pace uphill and the slowest pace on the flat - the result?
A really great team... that wins f**k all.
Us fatties have just got to lose some more weight and stop moaning!
Am I ranting???
