Marmotte accomodation
OK chaps, here is where we are at. I have contacted a load of Hotels in Alpe D'Huez. All of which came back with the same response "we are Chokka" One even said that he is taking bookings and getting full for 2009 Marmotte and we should be thinking about booking that now !!
I tried a Hotel down the road near Les Deux Alpes and he is also chokka
AS follows :-
Our Marmotte arrangement is already fully booked. The Marmotte is a big cycling event held on the 5th of July 2008.
For other periods in July and august we still have availabilities.
If you need accommodation during the Marmotte Period we advise you, to contact hotel Alpin (www.hotelalpin.fr)
Reservations for the Marmotte 2009 can be made the day after the announcement of the complete route of the Tour de France 2009.
The Hotel Alpin is also the one I priced up the other day from a recommendation from the one I tried unsuccesfully in Mizoens, as I said before its a long way out, 21k of moutain roads. (so logistically not great, we can forget riding there before and after the event), its not that cheap, and they want us to pay up front and book for 4 nights minimum !
However at the last time of contact it had rooms.
If anyone else wants to do a bit of digging around then feel free, and I hope you have better luck. However I think we need to act fast or we will be stuck with nothing.
For what it's worth, I would book it now as I don't want to be camping, tenting or any other form of sleeping rough!
Thats nothing for the Elite Melyd riders!
Still dissapointed to find you aren't riding to the event...
Righto, I have contacted the people at the Alpin, to confirm the rooms for 6 people. Hopefully they will still have some availability, I have asked for 3 nights instead of 4, we will see what they come back with.
What about hiring a camper van? That would give us much greater flexibility and resolve the transport problem.Unless that's still too rough for Paul.
Provided of course he has a private suite, silk sheets and complimentary chocolates on the pillow each night!
Oh and don't forget valet parking for the Pinnarello!
Ignore me I'm just jealous I won't be there!
P.s Get down to my new store 20% off to VC Melyd members...paid up members that is!
hmmm.....6 blokes waiting for a dump in a portaloo at 8am, sounds a treat ! ;)
