Right then - lets get this populated with stuff.
Borrowing from title of the section here; do we have some reccomendations for top five cycle friendly cafe's or similar around these here parts - with reasons why... either from ability to lean 30 bikes against the front window through doesnt mind sweaty oddly dressed people to nice cup-o-tea?
Answers on a website near you...
Theres a Very nice bistro in lanrwst run Buy a couple of very nice men
who give cyclists in tight lycra a very warm welcome.
This through personal experience or 'a friend of mine said' Alan?
are you batting for the other side now?
Petes eats in Llanberis has got to be the No. 1
give the Bryn Glo in capel curig a try, always go there when out walking, top full english!
I go to a cafe round the Great Orme called The Rest And Be Thankful. They open and close, when they feel like it! But I have never had a problem with leaving a bike outside. One of the women that works there, cycles to the cafe herself. Mike.
Most of you know my fave - the one with top totty, top of town, Ruthin !!
I know I go on a slightly different tangent now and agian, ok all thie time....
But what is all this about?!?!
Has she spoken to you yet in 34 years of going in there ? Thing is, you've been going in since 1972, and shes 61 years old now !! Maybe its time to let go ;)
Definately "The Galley" pub on Vale Road, Rhyl. Well worth all you guys trying it during the last few miles of an evening ride. Honestly, the locals will welcome a bunch of grown men in lycra asking for a pot of tea and cream scones. Sorry I wont be able to join you, but you must tell me how much you all enjoyed the hospitality.
Dont worry about the one eyed bloke who swears at his imaginary monkey, hes just a jolly local, and also the guy with the facial tattoos and the broken pool cue he just loves the friendly banter about Liverpool being crap etc.
Might be worth leaving your helmets on though
It's 32 years actually and I still don't know her name!
Its about the fact that when we stop - its nice to have an idea of whats good and whats not. Nothing worse than staggering into an 'establishment' where they are not cyclist friendly... or worse still tea and cake is crap.
So not that obscure :p
Oh - and thanks for the stirling work time keeping last night... you must be doing quite nicely on the bribes now - you accept EFT or BACS ;)
Ok time to be a little more constructive. I recommend the Snowdon cafe a the top of Snowdon. They serve antique Bara Brith (at least 40 years old)and are so considerate that they serve only luke warm tea so that it doesn't burn your mouth. This caff is readily accessible - just drive your car to Llanberis (not forgetting to put your bike in the back),book into the Royal Vic Hotel, walk your bike across the road, get the train up to the top of Snowdon (only £100 for a family of 4), not forgetting your bike, and there you are. Must admit I haven't tried it myself, but a good friend of mine.....
I heard a rumour that Justin used to ride up it? That just sounds like a non starter for me! Wrong wrong wrong and wrong again.
Can't say I ever rode up it when the cafe was open, any way much preferred huddling round a cairn eating a chocolate powerbar and drinking maxim in those days to be honest I think the visability was that bad everytime, I wouldnt have noticed if it was open anyway!Deffo worth a club ride up sometime best wait until the redsock brigade reduce numbers a bit!
Maybe worth re-thinking going back to Maxim, its clear High-5 is not agreeing with you
I thought it was some kind of new range they were bringing out that gave you some kind of edge through jet propulsion?
"now with 'HIGH-5IBRE' (tm) - athlete proven to stop people sitting on your wheel and assist both on the straight and in the hills (tests used out of saddle)..."
I can almost feel a spot of image editing coming on ;)
Normal Rhyl pub.
I have been there myself , many times. It is a good place.
This place is good if you can find it. Real log fire in winter.
Ceunant.
I go here instead of "Pete's Eats", often. More of a tea rooms, than a cafe.
