Time Trial 20/06/2008-Complaint

I would just like to complain to however in the club is in charge of the wind. It's about time you organised either a) A slight tail wind that miraculously changes direction as you hit the roundabout in Ruthin or b) No wind at all

I was told by other members that your Wind Organiser was a reasonable chap. But it seems that he is a facsist pig.

I didn't join VC Melyd to get roughed up by Hurricane Idris. Please sort it out.

Dear Wind blown from mold
I think you will find that the wind has been privatised taken over buy N Power, if you look out to sea you will notice that the wind turbines are always moving faster when it is windy .With all the new turbines being built offshore I predict we can look forward to more wind regularly, especially during ad breaks in the football when they need more power .The one advantage of this is it keeps you cool just like a big fan on the turbo trainer.

I know us TT ers have a reputation for being a little steady but imagine my surprise to read Dans Email this morning .Read the exert for yourselves. (In case you are interested . I did the Croix der Fer (Glandon) on the Catalyst yesterday morning 1 hr 21 mins and not as steep as the Alpe Du Huez, with a couple of little downhills at about 30 mins in and 1 hr in. so happy days, haven’t got round to doing the Galibier yet J as my Mrs doesn’t like me going off into the Garage for over 2hrs with the laptop, she thinks I am watching porn !) Nuff Said!

Oh god, now reading it from a 3rd party perspective, I am clearly as sad as I first feared :)

But at least my helmets not all pointy ;)

Your Mrs would be delighted if you were watching Porn.....its NORMAL for blokes(so I hear anyway!)whereas climbing Alps in your garage is plain wierd....

The only downside is if you view too much porn your helmet goes pointy!

PS there is a tunnel under the Croix de Fer now....thats progress for you!...would that be cheating?

... but La Marmotte avoids the Croix de Fer! Still, train hard, fight easy.

REALLY ?? Ah I see now on the official site, mind you isnt the Croix de Fer basically Glandon with a different ending at the top, neither happy :) but which summits the hardest ? Sod it, I will go my own way. Jonny frog (no relation) isnt going to stop this Rozbif nailing both summits :)

the Marmotteers take a left and trundle off down the valley of death. The Col du Croix de Fer is a right turn at the Col du Glandon and rises another couple of hundred metres. Why it is'nt part of the Route I don't know 'cos it really aint hard enough as it is. I'm with you Dan, albeit a few minutes behind by that stage. Viva la (or is it le) rozbif. Abientot mes amis.

I believe that the Croix de Fer (Iron Cross...Yes I have wikipedia :) Was the route on previous years 2006 and earlier

I dont know why they changed it ? I didnt sign up for this ! I am not sitting in a car for 11 hrs and spending a small fortune to do "the poofs Marmotte" Bring it on, if no-one follows me, you will all hereafter be known as the "Glandon Girls"

Unless of course if its raining in which case I am going back to the hotel :)

PS. Paul loves it when he hears things called "Valley of Death" etc. In fact arent they renaming it "Valley of Certain Death"

This thread is getting a little silly, do I detect a little nervousness creeping in?

Personally, all this talk of hills is making me twitch.

Are there any flat bits?

Good call on those tunnels mate :)
The Marmotte route says : - VIA the Glandon, Galibier, Alpe du Huez.

At no point does it mention OVER.
Additionally being underground for so long is bound to keep me dry and out of the weather, and most importantly will keep my "buffont" looking rockin ! tip top :)

How dare you suggest that a VC Melyd forum thread goes slightly off topic and silly ????

Nervous = No
Confidence = moderate - none
Recurring dreams about cycling up mountains = yes
Concerned about making it to Alpe Du Huez = yes
Looking forward to it = yes

Flat bits, yes the first 10k from the start I believe are relatively flattish. Oh yes and after you crest Alpe du Huez like a magnificent eagle, then I believe there is 500 yards or so of flat in the town before the finish, other that that... NO :)

Forget about the flat bits, remember that about 70k of it is downhill, Happy days ;) Even easier that the flat. That just reminded me, must fit those new brake pads tonight :)

Dura Ace pads offer the best dry performance!

Glad you sloped off early last night...very magnanimous of you just to stop my kit money getting wet!....I stood up for you when everyone else said you were a bit of a lightweight!...some of those rain showers lasted a couple of minutes!

Lets not start the sensibility question of riding in the rain and freezing cold again ! Its a can of worms that need never be opened again. Plus thats the benefit of getting out early and getting your miles in before the 6:15 meet, no guilt when you slope off to avoid the torrential downpours (read: light drizzle)

The reason the rain is continuous tonight is because there is NO WIND. Anybody riding the 10 this evening would have beaten 20 minutes, without trying.

I assume you rode.
If you did did you use front crawl or backstroke?
