also people are paying almost new 10 speed prices for these secondhand 9 speed ones must be short demand of new ones (phasing them out i suppose)

Got it on my Ribble winter bike and am very impressed with the performance for the money..prob less demand for it too!

Unless you are obsessed with weight saving then Tiagra is a reliable option. Have had it on my Cannondale winterbike for the past 5 winters and whilst not being a superlight racing groupset it has been flawless in reliability and function.

as you say for winter hack its ideal i think if its too shinny and expensive i might not want to use it as winter hack anymore!!!!!!

bought some tiagra shifters today and just finished fitting them now wow what a difference cant wait to give them a good test ride now.
