Just to break the boredom on here... Last Saturday I revisited Besse for a "little bit of cheese". On teh way I could not help but show my Mum how high the Galibier goes. Much to my horror the Col was closed - SNOW! We managed to get over the Lautauret knowing how lucky we had been a fortnight earlier, especially Me, Alan and Dan! The following morning I turned up for the VC Melyd club run at the car park in Bourg... no one else turned up for the usual 7am start so I headed up Alpe d'Huez for the 4th and probably last time in my career. 1 hr 13 Mins later I'm on my way back down having overtaken loads of riders and only passed by 2 again appreciating the high standard of rider in La Marmotte. A short road transfer later I finish my lonely Sunday ride meanering through the vineyards of the Cotes d'Or in Burgundy sampling the local beverages, only managing a mere 15 miles in 2hrs. A very pleasant day's riding. What about you guys?

I rode, through ankle deep
I rode, through ankle deep puddles (coincedentally with "the ankle") in murky rain, across fields near Blaenau Ffestiniog on a mountain bike in 12 degree temperatures, not once stopping for a light lunch and a cheeky little bordeaux, instead I feasted on the move on manky raisins that had been festering in the bottom of my Camelbak pocket for two weeks and some Vimto blended with sheepshit which had managed to find its way onto the nozzle of my drinks bladder. I believe Alan ventured out to the club in the rain......"you know, that fine rain, the type that soaks you through :)"......... Only to find he was "Billy no buddies" so consequently beasted himself for two hour on his cross bike, with only his own pain and suffering as riding partners !.......Can we come with you next time ?
Certainly can...
This Sunday I thought we would meet at Saints Gym in Meliden and gently meander the lanes and byways of North Wales. Anyone else up for it?
I rest our case....
....and they would n't believe us! Thank you Paul. Anyway we're all rubbish 'cos it's supposed to be done in less than 7 hours if your under 60.
I believe you John. I heard
I believe you John. I heard the thunder and saw the lightning heading down the valley toward the Galibier whilst I was at the Col. I remember thinking even then that I'd better get off there smartish, and also remember thinking that anyone halfway up or even worse at the bottom would be in big bother
Sorry I missed the start Paul....
been sampling South Wales finest trail centres this week...much gnarliness dude!...sure you'd love the black run at Brechfa.....imagine the cliff but slippery and with roots!
