Having contacted Marmotte tours recently i received this e mail in reply...................Thanks for your email and interest in doing the Raid Pyrenean as a club event next year. The Raid is a great cycling challenging taking in some fantastic scenery as well as giving you the opportunity to ride some of the legendary TDF climbs - it is what cycling is all about!............ We have had a lot of interest in our Raid trips already for next September and the current status is:............Mon 6th Sept - Sat 11th Sept 2010 (trip code RFR J37) – 11 places left............. Mon 20th Sept - Sat 25th Sept 2009 (trip code RFR J39) – 4 places left............. How many people do you think may be interested? We take a maximum of 20 on our trips so could put on a special date for your Club if you think you may be able to fill it. The standard price is £620, but we offer a 5% discount if people book more than 3 months before the trip and we would be happy to offer you a group 10% discount if you get 8 or more people together............... There are no direct flights from Manchester or Liverpool to the start / end of the Raid, so you would most probably have to travel down to Stansted. However if there are sufficient numbers in your group it would be financially viable for you to get us to put on a special transfer to/from Carcassonne, which opens up Ryan Air flights from Liverpool (Sundays only).............. Please let me know if you have any questions about the Raid and our service or if you would like us to hold some places for you while you talk to the other members of the Club........... Best Regards........... James...................................................................If we want to go we need to get our act together an get it booked.if there are enough of us i suggest we ask if they can do the week commencing Monday 13th .September Post here or contact me directly if interested.

I have consulted my darling wife...
and she has agreed to me doing the Raid in return for her having the same number of days away with the girls. This agreement also offers up the opportunity for some training rides while she's away not to mention a few parties at mine! Bring it on.
I'm in...
Always keen to make up the numbers! Pam's going on a Nile cruise so I've got lots (more) leeway.
Time limit
However I trust we will be setting ourselves the challenge of doing it within the recognised time frame? Although if there's any thunder and lightning about perhaps we could request extra time!
Nice work Paul.........You
Nice work Paul.........You have to wait for your family to go away so you can have a sneaky house party !!!......Are you 15 ?? :) .......Are we going to drink Thunderbird, and play spin the bottle ??...........Would love to join you in the Pyrenees, but having recently conquered the Alps, I think I need my mountains a little bigger, was thinking of the Trans Himalayas on unicycles.........Actually I have promised the smaller members Liddle clan (ok ok, I dont mean me and my old man) a big holiday in Florida early September, so that is taking care of both my time off work and all my disposable income !!!.....Have fun though, I am sure you'll do the club proud.
Extra Time?
The Flyer will always wait for you! As for Dan, a great disappointment that you can't make it, you'll be sorely missed by, well perhaps by Alan?
Kind words :) I am sure you
Kind words :) I am sure you can all survive without me. I'd bag Alan as a room mate sharpish Paul, hes a non snorer and has yet to bully any of his roomies, I'd avoid Jonboy like the plague though, acute flatulence is his weapon of choice :)
Oi
.... there's nowt cute about my flatulence. Funnily enough I've just been on a mountain medicine course and along with HAPE and HACE which are recognised conditions of Acute Mountain Sickness at altitude, they have now identified a new syndrome called High Altitude Flatus Expulsion (HAFE) - violent rectal explosions! So please don't take the piss I have a serious medical condition !!
Ignore him....
Jons just trying to blag a single room!
So far we have 8 riders for the Raid.
Paul Rutt, Jan Burthem, Dave Lee, Mark Bancroft, Alan Overson, Emyr Gronow, Jon Mainwaring, Chris Lord - We could really do with 10 so they will do us a private trip. So don't be shy, join up. You know who you are! Plenty of time to train, we're not going until September. What a goal to have for 2010?
Dates please..
I have a possible conflicting mission and so I would appreciate it, if at all possible, some idea of the intended date for our Raid adventure - beginning or late September would suffice for now.
13th September was suggested by Alan...
But that needn't be the case so long as everyone else was easy.
