Let me know if you can attend.or know of any motorbikers who may be interested..........................................Dear Cycling Club Secretary, Welsh Cycling intends to strengthen its ties with clubs in North Wales in all disciplines in cycling. It is important that North Wales clubs and supporters voice their opinions and views on requirements for the area which can then be used to shape future support in the region. To achieve and insure North Wales voices are heard there will be a meeting on Saturday 16th, 10.00 – 12.00noon (details below). Presentations will be made and consist of: Ian Jenkins (Development Manager – Welsh Cycling) Welsh Cycling staffing support and their remit in the region - how volunteers can contribute to our youth development programme. Talbot Thrush (Director – Event Safety) The Community Safety Accreditation Scheme and National Escort Group – how volunteers can develop and safeguard Road events in the region. Tony Lord (Director – North Wales) The North Wales Commission – activation of a proactive group to meet quarterly and make sure any agreed proposals are seen through to the benefit of clubs in North Wales. Of particular importance is the need to safeguard road events in the area - to those clubs with an interest in road racing and to clubs who promote in North Wales there is an urgent requirement to accredit volunteers to legally stop and direct traffic. Talbot’s presentation will detail how you can become involved with this scheme, and is of importance to volunteers wishing to join the National Escort Motorsport Group. Training is free of charge and a course will be held in North Wales providing there are enough volunteers. This is important for the future of road racing in North Wales so I appeal to you to attend and voice how vital this sport is to the North Wales clubs. Please reply with numbers attending from your club as refreshments will be provided. The meeting will be held at Faenol Fawr Country House Hotel, Bodelwyddan, St Asaph, Denbighshire, LL18 5UN. I would appreciate if you could circulate this letter to your membership, and encourage as many interested parties to attend as possible. Yours sincerely Tony Lord Director Welsh Cycling (North Wales Commission)
