Hi Guys N Girls

I have a contact with Demon Tweeks, they now do cycling kit, and have offered us 10% discount!

In December last year Demon Tweeks in Wrexham launched Tweeks Cycles with the aim of offering some of the best cycle brands in the business either through our showroom, via mailorder or online. We now have a 2500sq.ft. cycle showroom with over 100 bikes on display, a website with realtime stock availability (www.tweekscycles.com) and a dedicated sales line (01978 660003) where you can speak direct to cycle enthusiasts. In this short period of time we have already achieved Pro Shop status for Zipp, Campagnolo and Scott and have a Cytech and Shimano Service Centre approved workshop.

We would like to offer all members of VC Melyd a 10% in store discount, this would also be available via mailorder, all they need to do is just mention that they are a member of the club. In most cases we will also be willing to price match other retailers for your members so if they see what they want cheaper elsewhere it's definitely worth giving us a call. When comparing prices it's also worth bearing in mind that we offer free delivery on everything including bikes.

I hope this is of interest to you and your members and if you have any questions on any of the above please feel free to get in touch.

Kind regards,
Mark

Wouldnt bother with them

Bought an steering damper for a motorbike a few years ago, gave me the wrong fitting kit and the hassle i had trying to replace it- i gave up and didnt fit the steering damper! They are in it for the money and not the passion and 10% off their prices is still more than PBK, shiny etc, sorry about the rant but once bitten twice shy and what goes around....

Have they got a ....

decent B&M side of the business...need a local shop you can actually get stuff from in emergencies as well as online....Dave you passionate about flogging pies then?....only joking fella...well done on the Dyfi what was your time?

Is the tweeks group still

Dan's picture

Is the tweeks group still owned by the Minshaws ? Alan Minshaw started it from a tiny little shop in Tattenhall and i believe John (his son) ran it after the old man retired.
Wouldnt have a clue what their service is like for general sales, but like anything else, if the price is right then we all tend to swallow our pride :) I think my only true exception to this would be Dave Hinde. I think if I was riding through Northwich and got a puncture in my last inner tube outside his shop, I would still walk and push my bike 60 miles home :)

Buckley Cycles

Jo was at a networking evening and there was someone called Chris Jones who's opened a bike shop in Buckley...anyone been there/aware of it?

Is this personal experience of DH dan?...or just the pages of STW complaints putting you off?

Pete never thought you'd be into K&N filters and noisy exhausts!

link to the Buckley shop...bit BMX orientated, could be a useful contact for when the track opens

To be honest I didnt even

To be honest I didnt even know that DH did much MTB stuff, so its definately not the STW reports that put me off. But there is so much documented in the Road forums and stuff its nuts. The worst of it all is his Ebay shop which used to trade under the name "numberonebikebits" the negative feedback received about stuff not arriving, and people being generally ripped off is staggering. And should you think of complaining then you get basically verbally abused. True to form the last person I know personally who bought some stuff off him, (in this case a pair of handbuilt wheels), found that there was loads of play in the rear hub and no amount of adjusting could rectify it, upon closer inspection it was found that half the bearings were missing ! Apparently, I believe DH claimed no responsibility

If you want a giggle this is a small selection of his neg feedback, some of it is actually quite funny :) His ebay shop has since been closed down

I think its called 1886 racing, think its 1 of the roxburghs of rhos cc, got a pump from there when i found mine was broke when i went to do the marin, sells scott bikes aswell and i did the dyfi in 3hrs 20 i think for 30th place, got to say awesome event- its the best and my bike was fantastic on the descents but i think i will be doing further events of this type on something lighter and faster-cue new epic marathon? what do you reckon?

I think you are going need a

Dan's picture

I think you are going need a bigger garage !
But yes, I say go for it :)......Hold on what am I saying....we dont need you going any quicker !!....I'd say a unicycle for you...then we may get just get half a chance of keeping up...or then again maybe not :)

Tattenhall shop

Cooltrader's picture

That was when it was good! Small old shop in a little village, crammed full of goodies! They like tesco now but without the milk.Anyway back to bikes i am getting rid of the old epic and have looked at the specs of the s-works, mmmm nice- sram bits galore, proper clicky gear shifts not that spongy limp wristed faggy shimano stuff for me! Ha £5.5k?!

Blimey 5 and a half G's for a

Dan's picture

Blimey 5 and a half G's for a plastic bike ! Why not save up and get a proper metal one, surely everyone knows metal is much better than plastic ! Or else they'd make Formula one cars out of it.....Hang on.....they bloody well do !

I shall be expecting you to be snapping at the heels of Nick Craig on the new beastie :) Am thinking about an Anthem x for next years marathon season too. My hardtails great at going up stuff, but going down the technical stuff quickly is a whole different kettle of swimming things ! Or maybe its just because I is a Big gay no skills downhill mincer :) Because those boys at the World cup xc didnt seem to have many problems carrying speed on the technical bits on their hardtails !

29 ers

Cooltrader's picture

Any opinion on these?? There was a lad on 1 on sunday, he past me on the climbs, i squeezed past on the descents.

Did you watch the Dalby world

Dan's picture

Did you watch the Dalby world cup XC, apparently even the worlds top XC men are choosing them. That fella Stander, nearly won the mens event on one. Roll better over chattery stuff apparently, but slower all round steering and you look weird. Alternatively you could go for a combo and have a 29 er big wheel on the back and a regular small one on the front and call it a "chopper" you never know it may catch on :)

Ive watched Waynes World

Cooltrader's picture

Didnt see any bikes mind, and if you were watching the Tour of Romandy Time Trial-as christophe moreau was riding along u would have seen a cycling spectator punching a marshall in the face, really funny, glad i sky+ it, yes watched dalby-why do women riders have very large legs and bottoms?

Clown Bikes

Not sure you'd have enough nad clearance Dave....29"ers are for normal sized blokes.....Jases was fast but steering felt weird!

Pint size 29ers

Dan's picture

Apparently things have changed

http://reviews.mtbr.com/blog/2010-gary-fisher-superfly-100-29er-preview/

They now make 29ers for correctly sized Anglo Saxon males and females, and not just you the odd feral imported species (i.e 5'7" and above)......

That oddly named Willow something rode a 29er to a podium place in the womens race, and shes a proper little 5'1" tiddler. And the Burry Stander geezer got a podium and hes a correctly sized 5'8".....Agreed though, despite their huge talent and silky skills they both looked a bit mongy on those circus bikes
