Wow-that was hot, 5hrs of mainly climbing followed by nice cooling descending, good raid prep, ive got slightly sunburnt knees! Roll on grassington- get ur entries in ASAP or so the non stop talking windbag who kept us waiting in the stiffling heat at the start kept reminding us, i mean i dont care if theres 10 minutes till the start, shut up about "have u got enough water" and just let us go! yes we needed chris lord to shout abuse at him again

He reminded me of Bryn from Gavin and Stacy, without the homosexual undercurrent :) Enjoyed the ride yesterday, theres not much we dont know about the mountains around Builth Wells now ! No cramp this time which was amazing for someone like me who sweats more than anyone else on the planet ! Dont think I fancy anything sweet and sickly for a while though :) I got through about 4.5 litres of Torq, so my guts are ready for something bland today :)
Rode round with Dave, although I am pretty sure he could have got a much better time without me holding him and the super trek back, but I was glad of the company, as its a long day on your own.
I liked the interview with the guy at the end who'd just finished the 50k, who claimed he'd drunk 5 camelbaks full in the heat, thing is there was only 2 water stops ?? how did he work that one out ??

Just thought that bunch of weekend warriors were frightened of getting wet....riding up that stream kept me a bit cooler
Didn't notice you guys looking battered!...yep did ok, riding within my limits...soooo glad it wasn't the full 85K tho in that heat....drank about 5litres but needed more nuns tabs as had cramps last night....obviously two packets of twiglets weren't salty enough!
Should be ok for Grassington too...will check availability

One nuun tab, is about right for 500 ml of water I think. So in a 3 litre camelback, you'd need 6 of the little fellas in there. Pretty hard not to cramp in that heat, whatever you took, A chap in front of me in the little wooded technical singletrack section, went straight on at one point and had a little low speed crash, he kept apologising and said it was becasue he was cramping so bad that his fingers were seizing up and he couldnt brake properly :)
Made me chuckle because he was such a nice reserved chap, that as he was crashing instead of going "oh s**t" or worse, he shouted "OH DEAR" it was so civilised and made me chuckle to myself !

Yep I just put 2 tabs in 2.5l was worried about it tasting yuk and not wanting to drink it!...will use more for the next one!
