VC Melyd Evening TT's start this coming Thursday, 1st May 2008

Submitted by secret mile muncher on Sun, 27/04/2008 - 1:18pm.

This year we have a new course the D23/10, a proper 10 miler, starting on the A525 between Denbigh & Llanrheadr, turning at the roundabout outside Ruthin & finishing just before the Brookhouse mill.

The road surface is much better than on the Llandyrnog circuit & it does not climb the Wall!!! I rode round it last Wednesday (the Rhyl CC event had been cancelled) in 26'10", without pushing myself too hard.

As this is a new course the first rider to finish will set the course record & I expect to see it broken several more times in the 1st evening.

VC Melyd Cycling Kit - Order time.

Submitted by webmaster on Tue, 03/07/2007 - 2:25pm.

The next order of VC Melyd Cycling Kit will be going in as soon as we can make up the numbers to do so. Given that we have new members, and we have a 3 peaks team with little to no VCM kit remaining (or stretched out of all proportion, Dan) - orders should be coming in quite quickly.

Please do think ahead, since we will not be putting in another order with all likelihood for another 18 months minimum as to ensure numbers.

Prestatyn Cycle Week 26th May - 3rd June

Submitted by Anonymous Coward on Sun, 13/05/2007 - 2:30pm.

Announcing Prestatyn Cycling week in association with VC Melyd, Rhyl CC, 'On Track', Prestatyn Town Council, and the North Wales Cycling Union.

Essentially we are assisting through Alan's direct involvement with the presentation of a weeks worth of events to encourage people to dust off their bikes, haul them from the shed / garden / cupboard under the stairs, and enjoy what we take for granted.

Any assistance for those willing to help with this is appreciated; meanwhile, take a copy, print it out and stick it somewhere where people can see it; it is the first of its kind, so we need to get it publicised, and attended.

Club membership

Subs are due shortly - just a polite reminder for the return of our esteemed treasurer in a weeks time. For more information contact either myself or Dan - or better still just cough up next time you are out riding with him and watch him look confused as how to keep it safe and dry for the rest of the ride.

You know it makes sense... we are good value for the amount of discomfort we supply you.

THE 'GRAN FONDO CYMRU' - SUNDAY 28 MAY 2006

Submitted by Anonymous Coward on Sat, 27/05/2006 - 6:09pm.

Good luck to those taking part in one of the three rides taking place on Sunday's Gran Fondo heading out from Y Bala on Sunday morning. The riders will be taking part in one of the 25 mile, 108 mile, or 117 mile routes that will include climbs of 3575, and 4575m respectively, in what appears to be a slowly improving weather forecast.

While the solid core of our riders with a 'weekend pass' will be participating, those who are denied the dubious pleasure of seven or so hours of pain i

Rivals finsh within seconds of each other in difficult conditions in Cheshire

Submitted by secret mile muncher on Sun, 02/04/2006 - 6:03pm.

The keen rivalry between Dan & Justin was in evidence yesterday in the South Lancs RC open 10 mile timetrial with just 22 seconds seperating them.

Conditions were difficult with a strong SW headwind on the final 2 miles of the rolling Cheshire course adding 2-3 minutes to all the rider's typical times.

Dan got off to a bad start with a 1m 38s late start penalty and finished with a time of 28m 58s. Justin just pipped Dan's time with 28m 35s.

Alan also had a difficult ride, having been ill for several days beforehand he finshed in a time of 25m 55s, finishing 27th in the field of 90 riders.

The winner was Robin Brennan - Preston Wheelers in a time of 22m 48s.

In the tandem event Neil Stirzaker & Gethin Butler - Preston Wheelers finished in 20m 41s.
